The University of Miami Bachelor of General Studies (B.G.S.) program enables working professionals or adult students with personal obligations to complete a bachelor’s degree designed to support career goals and accommodate a busy lifestyle.

B.G.S. students have the unique opportunity to select upper-level coursework across academic disciplines to create an individualized area of concentration. The program also allows students to choose class times and formats to devise a flexible schedule. This custom-designed course schedule provides broad exposure to multiple areas of study and furthers personal growth and professional development.

The program is ideal for those who were previously unable to finish their bachelor’s degree, professionals who earned an associate degree but would like to augment their education to enhance their resumes and increase their potential, or adults with children or full-time jobs.

B.G.S. advisors provide exceptional one-on-one coursework selection support and guidance, working with students to determine a feasible workload and realistic class schedule that ensures you efficiently earn credits and within a timeframe that will not interfere with personal or professional responsibilities.

To be eligible for the B.G.S. program, you must:
✓ Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
✓ Be pursuing your first undergraduate degree
✓ Be 22 years old or over and have completed high school at least four years ago
✓ Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.2 on all previous college work
✓ Not be enrolled in another school or college at the University of Miami

The University of Miami offers B.G.S. students an affordable, significantly reduced rate. Tuition for the 2020-2021 academic year is approximately one-third of the regular rate of undergraduate tuition.
