The Bachelor of General Studies degree is a real University of Miami undergraduate degree created for non-traditional students. You can study online or on campus, and create a schedule that happens during the day, evenings, or weekends. Whether this is your first entry into college, or you are picking up where you left off, the University of Miami can be your collegiate home.
The Bachelor of General Studies program offers areas of concentration, rather than majors, so that students can pick and choose the courses that are most relevant to their careers. Applications are due on July 1, 2022 for the 2022 Fall term. Applications are due on December 2, 2022 for the Spring 2023 term.

In order to be eligible for the Bachelor of General Studies degree, applicants must meet the following admissions criteria:
1. Graduated from high school at least four (4) years ago and be at least 22 years old
2. Cumulative GPA of 2.2 on all previous college work
3. U.S. citizen or permanent resident
4. Not currently enrolled in another school or college at the University of Miami
5. Student must be pursuing first undergraduate degree
The Bachelor of General Studies degree requires General Education coursework in English, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Humanities, Foreign Language, History, Math, and Computer Information Systems. No two students will have identical course requirements due to the personalized nature of the program.
To complete their degree, students will need 60 credits of general education, 30 credits in their area of concentration, 15 interdisciplinary/secondary focus credits, and 15 elective credits, for a total of 120 credits. Students can apply up to 75 transfer credits when entering the Bachelor of General Studies program.
Students who submit a free FAFSA application and meet the guidelines set forth by the Office of Financial Assistance are eligible for financial aid. The Bachelor of General Studies program also offers scholarships to non-traditional students through the Osher Reentry Scholarship and Englander Scholarship programs. University of Miami employees may be eligible to use Tuition Remission benefits towards this degree.
